Pfizer Inc. will end production of Exubera, an inhaled insulin product. Spokesman Rick Chambers tells Inside INdiana Business that the company is putting about 600 workers on paid leave at its Terre Haute facility where the drug is manufactured and distributed. Chambers says the company has already invested $300 million in the facility for the drug.
Toyota parts supplier coming to Indiana
Toyota Boshoku Corp. says it will build a new seat frame production and assembly facility in southwest Indiana in Princeton and create more than 200 new jobs. The facility, which will be located adjacent to Total Interior Systems -- America, will supply the seat frames to nearby Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana.
WellPoint Opens pharmacy facility
Indianapolis-based WellPoint Inc. has opened a new specialty pharmacy facility near Indianapolis International Airport. The PrecisionRX Specialty Solutions facility handles complex pharmaceuticals used by WellPoint members. WellPoint says it has filled 400 of the expected 900 jobs at the facility.
Canadian company to build bottling plant
Ice River Springs says it will build a water bottling plant in Kentland and create 100 new jobs. The Canadian company says it will invest $20 million in the production and distribution center that will manufacture and fill plastic bottles with water from a nearby spring.
Hoosier Park breaks ground on Racino
The Hoosier Park horse racing track in Anderson has broken ground on a 92,000-square-foot slot machine wing. Hoosier Park plans to open the slots building next summer, a little more than a year after enactment of the state law allowing slot machine gambling at horse tracks.
Timken to expand South Bend facility
Ohio-based The Timken Co. says it plans to expand its industrial bearing services facility in South Bend. The company says strong demand is driving the need for more capacity. Timken says it is investing $6 million in the South Bend expansion and a new service center in South Carolina.
Honda responds to lawmakers' concerns
Honda Manufacturing of Indiana LLC says its decision to only hire workers for its new Greensburg facility from the plant's 20 surrounding counties was designed to ensure that workers can get to work safely and ontime. The statement comes in response to a letter from a group of Democratic state representatives from Muncie, Pendleton and Anderson questioning the hiring practices.
Indiana chamber presents HR, internship awards
The Indiana Chamber of Commerce has named John Dickey, senior vice president of human resources at Batesville-based Hillenbrand Industries, as HR Professional of the Year. The chamber also announced that the Outstanding Employer of the Year award for internships went to Hoosier entrepreneur Scott Jones, for internship programs at three of his companies.
