HEALTH FAIR | Hammond

The Wellness Center at Purdue University Calumet hosts its annual spring health fair from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. April 2 and 3 in the Student Union Library building at the university, 2200 169th St. Various vendors will provide free screenings such as vision, blood pressure and posture. Admission is free for all.

ALPINE CHRISTMAS | Munster

Munster Parks and Recreation Department offers a trip Nov. 11 to Dec. 7 to explore traditional Christmas markets of Austria and southern Bavaria. Participants can enjoy city tours of Innsbruck, Munich and Salzburg, as visit Neuschwanstein Castle, Wies Church, Oberammergau, Mirabell Gardens and Getreidegasse. Trip includes roundtrip air from Chicago(all taxes and fees), 10 meals, six nights in one hotel in Innsbruck, city tours and shopping. The Hammond Parks and Recreation Department announces its first Hammond home and garden show. It's set for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 26 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 27 at the Jean Shepherd Community Center, 3031 J.F. Mahoney Drive.

BODY AND SPIRIT | Highland

Wounded Healers presents Dr. Samantha Francis, a chiropractor and member of Hofferth Family Chiropractic Service in Munster, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. March 26 at the St. James Church Hall, 45th and Kennedy Avenue. She will help those needing grief support understand the connection between mind, body and spirit, offering another way to find the inner strength to work through difficult issued faced in the grief process. There is no charge to attend.

ALZHEIMER'S SUPPORT | Munster

An Alzheimer's support group meets at 6 p.m. March 27 at the Hammond Clinic's Specialty Center, 7905 Calumet Ave. The free seminar will feature how to work with loved ones afflicted by Alzheimer's disease. It's affiliated with the Alzheimer's Association. Register.

BRIDAL SHOW | East Chicago

Msgr. Connelly Council Knights of Columbus will host a bridal show from 6 to 9 p.m. March 26 at the hall, 1104 Knights of Columbus Drive, (Indianapolis Boulevard at the Indiana Toll Road) and is accepting vendors. Cost for a 72-inch round covered table is $150, or $175 if electricity is needed.

PRESSURE TESTS | Munster

Free blood pressure testing will be done from 10 a.m. to noon March 27 at the Lake County Public Library's Munster branch, 8701 Calumet Ave. It's offered by Hospice of the Calumet Area.

LAP-BAND SEMINAR | Munster

Dr. Satish Patel will present a free seminar about the LAP-BAND adjustable banding system at 3 and 5 p.m. March 28 at 9108 Columbia Ave., Suite B. This seminar is sponsored by the Lakeshore Laparoscopic Bariatric Center. Seating is limited, so register now.

NUTRITION CLASS | Munster

Nutrition in the Fast Lane meets at 6 p.m. March 25 in the medical meeting room on the third floor of the Hammond Clinic's Specialty Center, 7905 Calumet Ave. Registered dietician JoAnn Franczek will explain how to make the best choices at restaurants and fast food places during this free seminar. Most Americans eat out at least four times each week, which makes balancing calories, fat and salt intake a challenge. Register in advance.

PEER TO PEER | Merrillville

The Merrillville National Alliance for the Mentally Ill offers a Peer to Peer class for consumers under the care of a mental health professional. Classes meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Fridays for nine weeks, starting March 28, at Southlake Center for Mental Health, 8555 Taft St. Participants will also work on a relapse-prevention plan. HEART FAILURE | Munster

LifeFit - Heart Failure will be presented from 1 to 2 p.m. March 25 at Fitness Pointe, 9950 Calumet Ave. This is an educational series presented by nurses and exercise physiologists that's designed to help individuals learn how to stop or slow the progression of heart disease. Participants explore the effects of various risk factors on their bodies and helpful ways to reduce them. Register for the free program.

PLAN PRESENTATION | Munster

Community Hospital will host a free presentation on the Healthy Indiana Plan from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. March 27 at Fitness Pointe, 9950 Calumet Ave. HIP is a new, affordable health insurance program for uninsured adult Hoosiers sponsored by the state. Attendees will find out if they are eligible and what's covered. IRISH TUNES | National Lakeshore

Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore will turn green a little early this spring as Save the Tunes musicians share traditional Irish songs. The sing-along is 7:30 to 9 p.m. March 28 at the Calumet Dune Interpretive Center. The Save the Tunes Council is a group of local musicians devoted to preserving and passing on folk songs in the traditional way, using a variety of musical instruments including guitar, autoharp, dulcimer, banjo, harmonica, bagpipe, penny whistle, hurdy gurdy, and other obscure instruments. The Calumet Dune Interpretive Center is on Kemil Road between U.S. 20 and U.S. 12.

 RIDING PROGRAM | Hobart

Exceptional Equestrians Unlimited, a nonprofit charity offering therapeutic horseback riding lessons, is accepting applications for the spring session on a first come, first served basis. The EU program provides recreational and therapeutic equine activities for children and adults with various physical, mental and emotional disabilities. Classes, both mounted and unmounted, will be held at 5:30, 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, April 17 through June 28, in Hobart. LINE DANCE | Hammond
