CEDAR LAKE | Carol Kaiser will start Nov. 1 as the new superintendent of the Hanover Community School Corp.

The board on Tuesday approved a three-year contract with Kaiser that includes an annual base salary of $100,000 plus benefits.

Board Vice President Dale Poston, who visited Kaiser's present school district, said he is pleased with the selection.

"We did a lot of research," he said. "She seems like a perfect fit for us."

Kaiser said returning to Lake County is a coming home of sorts.

The Robertsdale native most recently was the superintendent of the Smith-Green school district in Churubusco. She had earlier served as principal at South Newton High School.

"I'm very glad to be given the opportunity to come here," Kaiser said. "It's an excellent school system, excellent scores and a wonderful community."

Kaiser fills the seat left vacant with the late May resignation of Michael Livovich.

Board President Pat Kocot said Livovich was earning an annual base salary of $99,300 at the time of his departure.

" Yes, congrats...we're glad to see her go. Nice lady, but not an effective superintendent at all. We had high scores at one time too, but we've had several years of not meeting AYP during the tenure of Carol Kaiser. We were her first superintendency...so we were the guinea pig I suppose. If you wanted an overpaid micro manager, you got it! Good luck!!! You'll need it. "

" It is not about saving money - it's about what you get for your money.

I have worked with Ms.Kaiser - your getting a good one. "

" So how exactly are we saving money?
I sure hope the current board is more forthcoming with the experience. "
